Painted Lady

This beautiful butterfly is the Painted Lady, I came across this photograph while organizing pictures and just thought I would share it with you all. It reminds me of summer, and oh how I wish it was...summer that is! It is 16 degrees right now and we still have the remnants of our recent 10 inch snow fall. If you would like to read more about these beautiful butterflies click this link to read a previous post on the Painted Lady

  1. Nice one!

They are found in parts of Australia too but here in Tasmania we get the very similar Australian Painted Lady Vanessa kershawi which looks almost identical.

  2. Thank you Mosura. These really are beautiful butterflies and one of my favorites. You are right your species is almost identical, very lovely, and thank you for sharing.

  3. Luckily we still have butterflies flying around us in spite of extreme cold, but no rain or snow of course. Today I shot a painted lady and a newly emerged common caster at my house.
