Dinner Time
Have you ever watched a praying mantis? Whenever I see one stalking it's prey, grabbing it with those awkward short front legs I am reminded of T-Rex. It is a truly apt description for such a vicious and successful hunter and the mantid. These insects almost seem to possess a personality as they follow you with their eyes and head. I've even had them try to crawl onto my camera as I was taking their pictures, that will give you a start when you aren't expecting it, these guys or gals truly are gentle and I have never been bitten by one yet.
Missouri's Majorities
What exactly does that mean? Well I am referring to insects of course. Missouri is blessed with unique and beautiful creatures, many overlooked and some feared. I created this blog in the hopes that you will share with us your unique experiences and observations of the "world of insects"
I've spent the biggest portion of my life fascinated by "bugs" and for the past five years I have taught children about insects through my volunteer work with Missouri Department of Conservation, and I am currently completing a field guide to Missouri Insects. Hope to hear from you all soon.
